Fibre Network Advantages

Break the speed barrier with innovation

As technology advances, you deserve better and better Internet access services. 56K dialup, ASDL and VSDL are all things of the past and now fibre-optic broadband has taken center stage. Now you can break the speed barrier, reaching once unthinkable speeds of 1000Mbps (1Gbps).

Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service was first introduced to Japan in 1999 and as of March 2007 there were 8.8 million household subscribers in the country. In April 2006, Hong Kong Broadband Network was first to bring 1000Mbps FTTH broadband technology to Hong Kong’s residential users. Korea, Sweden, Taiwan and the US among others have now also launched this high-speed broadband service.

As the Internet technology matures, we use more and more online applications and the websites we visit now feature more images, flash and video clips. As a result we need faster Internet access and better broadband services. ASDL technology which offers different upload and download speeds has become obsolete. FTTH is the future of broadband Internet and people are making the switch from ASDL to FTTH.
