Diversity & Inclusion

Our journey to create positive change is firmly grounded in diversity and inclusiveness. From the way we recruit and support our Talents to the voices we empower, we are committed to fostering an environment where everyone is valued, respected and are supported with opportunities to thrive.

Building a Diverse Workforce

We believe that a culture of inclusion is vital for innovation, creativity, growth and change. By embracing diversity, we bring together a multitude of perspectives, experiences and ideas, which empower us to better serve our customers and communities.

Inside HKBN, our Management Committee (MC) and senior executive teams are tasked with overseeing workforce diversity initiatives, which we use to complement efforts in acquiring and retaining Talents. Our goal is to promote diversity and maintain HKBN’s status as a top employer of choice, with a commitment to increase female representation in technical roles.

An Equal Opportunity Workplace

In championing workplace diversity, we strive to foster a professional and inclusive environment where all Talents are valued and enabled to thrive without discrimination and harassment. All employment decisions at HKBN are based on business needs, occupational requirements and individual qualifications, without prejudice to race, religion, colour, cultural background, politics, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as an individual with a disability, or any other applicable legally protected characteristic.

Women & Technology

As HKBN continues to grow and transform, we’re tackling the gender diversity challenge head-on via a pledge to bring greater representation of women in technical roles. With gender imbalance a legacy of the technology space, we are reshaping our culture to make HKBN the best ICT workplace for women in Hong Kong.

Board Diversity

Besides Talents, we’re also fully committed to enhancing our governance through leadership diversity.

Our Board of Directors comprises individuals from a broad range of cultural and professional backgrounds. A diverse Board ensures that we can leverage a greater variability in leadership perspectives, stemming from different experiences, genders and viewpoints, to guide and steer HKBN’s long-term success.

As women continue to be globally under-represented in the Boardroom, we seek to do better with a target to enhance our Board’s gender diversity.

Our Work

Women & Young Parents at HKBN

As HKBN continues morphing into one of the best ICT workplaces for women, we want to also make sure that our female Talents feel valued, supported and championed. Inside HKBN, our Women’s Network provides a platform for our professional women to share their experiences, socialise and voice their opinions; our Smart Working Parents Group also brings together our new and expecting working moms and dads to exchange advice and experiences.

Working with NGOs

With Talent diversity increasingly vital in our focus, we’re investing more time and resources to attract new Talents from a wider range of backgrounds. A big way we’re making progress is through collaborations with non-profits to engage the broader community and even organise events for recruitment.
