Win-win-win Partnership & Value Chain
As a responsible business, we’re focussed on diversity, sustainability and building win-win-win relationships with the many small, medium and large businesses that comprise our local and regional supply chains. To maintain quality at every point in our value chain, we work with suppliers and partners who share similar values for safety, ethics, environmental standards and more.
ESG in our Supply Chains
In addition to our demands for quality, we request that suppliers adhere to our commitment to do business the right way in terms of ESG – ranging from their sustainability policies and data privacy best practices to their environmental and social performance.
Throughout HKBN’s procurement process, we ensure ESG alignment in five key ways:
- Supplier Assessment
ESG factors of a supplier are evaluated and considered. - Tender and Contracting
Suppliers are required to abide by clauses such as those relating to human rights, labour, data privacy and protection. - Supplier Performance Management
Supplier performance is measured against pre-concurred service level agreements. - Supplier Onboarding
New suppliers must complete our supplier questionnaire to help us understand their sustainability practices and policies. - Supplier Criticality
Criticality assessments help identify the potential impacts to customers, operations, legal & regulatory, sustainability, security and reputation.
Supplier Audit & Assessment
We use a mix of traditional and sustainability criteria to evaluate each supplier during the onboarding process. Our focus on sustainability ensures that each supplier meets our standards across areas like ethics, labour, environmental impact, supplier health and safety.
Since late 2021, we began strict enforcement by engaging suppliers that have had a below-average ESG score, allowing only those suppliers that agree to enhance their ESG practices to stay in our supplier database.
HKBN sourced products & services from 2,677 suppliers in 2022.
Supplier Code of Conduct
Our commitment to provide customers with world-class products and services means that we expect similarly high standards from suppliers. Our Supplier Code of Conduct (SCoC) sets out the standards and business practices for our suppliers relating to corporate governance, fair labour conditions, health and safety standards, environmental protection, and protection of confidential information.
Supplier Engagement
Building a long-term relationship with our suppliers requires two-way dialogue, and this cannot be done without trust, communication and shared values.
To achieve this, we regularly engage our suppliers through a variety of ways, including via surveys to understanding their views, needs and areas that can be improved; via sharing and learning events that we organise in-house; and via training workshops which cover everything from health & safety to data privacy.
