(Hong Kong – 27 August 2026) Since Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited ("HKBN") entered the gerontechnology market with its "Elder Buddy" brand, it has introduced Hong Kong's first¹ smart solution which fall-detection system that combines a wireless home emergency safety bell with advanced mmWave radar technology. To further advance senior home care, HKBN today announced an expanded product portfolio with the launch of the "Home Safety Package" – a holistic smart sensor solution designed to enhance senior safety, complemented by 24-hour emergency support centre services, and alleviate caregiver stress.

 

With an ageing population and a rising number of seniors living alone, home safety has become a pressing social concern. Cases of seniors missing critical rescue windows after falling ill or suffering accidents at home are not uncommon. In addition to its existing "Wireless Home Emergency Safety Bell" and "Fall Detection System", HKBN's new smart monitoring solution now includes multiple sensors that proactively detect environmental hazards such as smoke and water leaks, as well as monitor seniors' daily activity patterns – creating a comprehensive home safety network. Key features of the expanded "Elder Buddy" smart package include:

 

	Smoke Sensor: Dual Alerts for Early Fire Detection Compact in size, the smoke sensor features both audible and visual alarms, with a detection range of up to approximately 500 square feet2 and a powerful 85dB siren to allow seniors and family members being promptly alerted to fire risks. The sensor requires no external power source, with long-lasting battery life, ensuring reliability and durability.
	Water Leak Sensor: Instant Alerts to Prevent Flooding and Slipping Hazards The water leak sensor instantly detects leaks or flooding, triggering a high-frequency alarm while simultaneously notifying the support centre and the mobile app. Compact and easy to install, it is particularly suitable for bathrooms and kitchens – helping to prevent falls caused by wet floors while also protecting household property.
	Contact Sensor: Keeping Track of Entries and Exits for Greater Peace of Mind The contact sensor instantly detects the opening and closing of doors, sending status notifications to the mobile app and the emergency response centre. Easy to install with no wiring required. When used alongside motion sensors, it helps family members confirm whether seniors have returned home on time – offering reassurance.
	Motion Sensor: Infrared Technology for Real-Time Indoor Activity Monitoring Compact and thoughtfully designed, the motion sensor can be rotated to the desired detection angle and is suitable for installation in living rooms, hallways, or entrance areas. It instantly detects human movement, allowing family members to always stay informed of indoor activity. Featuring infrared technology that is unaffected by lighting conditions, it offers a wide field of view to capture the movements of the elderly.
