Is there a difference in the services provided by eSIM and physical SIM?
eSIM and physical SIM are similar in basic functionality, but they each have their own advantages in terms of convenience and security. Currently, not all mobile devices support eSIM, so customer should ensure his/her device is compatible before choosing eSIM.
Can I choose to use eSIM upon registration of HKBN mobile services?
Yes, eSIM is currently available for HKBN mobile services plans using 3HK network. Upon registration, customers can choose either eSIM or physical SIM card, free of charge.
Can my eSIM support multiple devices?
An eSIM can only connect to one device. Once the eSIM QR code is scanned, the eSIM cannot be used on other devices.
How do I transfer an eSIM to another mobile phone or device?
Similar to the current process for replacing a physical SIM card, mobile service customers can visit HKBN shop to replace their eSIM. The handling fee is $50. Once the new eSIM QR code is issued, the old eSIM will become invalid. If you are upgrading to a new mobile phone or device, we recommend completing the data transfer before visiting HKBN shop to replace your eSIM.
If I have already downloaded and activated the eSIM and need to reset my phone or restore it to factory settings, what should I do?
When resetting or restoring your phone, please select “Reserve eSIM" option to prevent the eSIM from being erased during the reset process. If the eSIM is erased, you will need to visit HKBN shop to do the eSIM replacement. The handling fee is $50.
Does eSIM service support smart watches (such as Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch)?
Currently, eSIM service is only compatible to designated mobile devices and models.
Which service provider provides the Prepaid eSIM Service?
Prepaid eSIM is a service provided by 3HK. HKBN is an appointed sales agent of 3HK regarding the Prepaid eSIM Service and bears no responsibility for the delivery or performance of the service. The use of the Prepaid eSIM Service is subject to the terms and conditions of 3HK.
Can the prepaid card be used immediately after activation?
According to “Telecommunications (Registration of SIM Cards) Regulation”, real-name registration is required before using prepaid SIM in Hong Kong.
